Neo (Jian Cong Ngeoh)

Jian Cong Ngeoh — known across the Malaysian grappling community as JC Ngeoh, or simply Neo — is a senior Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and instructor based in Singapore.

Ngeoh's grappling career carries a notable dual foundation. Long before settling into a senior teaching role on the mats, he competed actively in mixed martial arts on the Malaysian circuit, reaching the finals of Malaysian Invasion MMA (MIMMA) at 125 lb and earning a submission victory by rear-naked choke at F-3 Championship 6 in Kuala Lumpur. That cage time, in a country whose MMA scene was still finding its feet, gave him a competitive instinct and a no-gi sensibility that has aged into his coaching: an emphasis on functional position, attacking pressure under fatigue, and finishing under the threat of strikes.

Previously at AOS, Ngeoh occupies a specific and important role in the academy's culture. AOS — founded with the stated ethos of "taking jiujitsu seriously, but not taking ourselves seriously" — has built one of the more welcoming and technically diverse environments in Kuala Lumpur, and its Honorary Professors are the senior mentors who shape that culture from the back of the room.

Within the Malaysian community, Ngeoh is regarded as one of the long-standing fixtures of the local game — a figure who has crossed from competitive MMA into pure grappling without losing the edge he developed in the cage. His influence is felt more in the depth of the academy he helps lead than in the size of his medal cabinet, which is a different and equally valid kind of legacy in the sport.
