Kohki Nakamura

Kohki Nakamura is a Malaysian-based youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor of Japanese, Australian, and Malaysian heritage, and one of the most decorated junior athletes on the Asia-Pacific circuit at his age and belt level. He currently holds the rank of orange-white belt under the IBJJF kids grading system and represents Fight Aesthetic Asia, training out of The Grappling Center after spending his foundational years at LEAD BJJ.
Nakamura first drew international attention with a silver-medal finish at the Pan Pacific IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship while still in the lower kids divisions — an early indicator of the consistency that has come to define his career. In the seasons that followed, he progressed steadily through the IBJJF kids structure, accumulating titles across multiple federations and events.
His domestic record is the foundation of that résumé. Nakamura has claimed five Queensland State titles, a New South Wales State title, and a Victoria State title — a sweep across the three principal east-coast Australian regions that reflects both his appetite for high-level competition and his willingness to travel for it. Few competitors in his age and belt bracket have stood on top of brackets in three different states.
He has since converted that domestic foundation into broader success, capturing two gold medals at the IBJJF Pan Pacific Championship and a further title on the ADCC circuit. His competitive style is characterised by a calm, technical approach — strong positional awareness and patient, high-percentage finishing sequences rather than scrambling exchanges, traits often associated with athletes brought up under structured kids' programmes.
Through his affiliation with Fight Aesthetic Asia, Nakamura continues to compete across the Asia-Pacific region, representing the brand as one of its standout junior athletes and a competitor expected to feature prominently as he progresses through the IBJJF belt system.
